Play two saxophones (well set up) from the late 1930's and make some notes on what you felt behind the horn. Lacquer is not 100% perfect, but I am being extremely picky.It was physically light, and the tone had a focused core with both a pop and a buzz to it (I'm new at describing these things). It felt great. I then tried some new pro tenors (Mauriat, Cannonball, Yamaha YTS-62) and was bored with the sound compared to the YTS-61. Here are my thoughts on the Lupifaro Platinum tenor sax , hand made by Luca Cardinali . after seven intensive play testing days and two gigs, one was a mellow sax and guitar duo and the 2nd was a full on 6 piece band which I'm in a three part section.I dislike the Alto, I have a SX90, and did not care at all for the Soprano's. The 62 can be pretty bright depending on your disposition and the era of the sax. The 82Z is a darker sound than the 62 and blows a lot freer than the SX90. All 3 are good, usable saxes and solid for learning on.
